Daring Capital: A year of impact
Hi everyone,
Whether you’ve been part of the Daring Capital community from the start or you’re just getting to know us welcome we’re glad you’re here.
Over the past year, we’ve reflected on Daring Capital’s journey not only as an investor but as a brand and community.
A Year of Growth
So far 250+ startups applied for funding, seeking over £67 million in investment.
Out of these, 10 groundbreaking ventures secured over £1 million+ from 30+ investors, fueling solutions for poverty, discrimination, mental health, and access to justice.
Backing underrepresented Founders
We invest in visionary founders from marginalised
communities, those excluded from traditional finance due
to systemic barriers:
100% are women-led
50% come from minority ethnic background
25% are from lower socio-economic groups
50% have lived experience of the challenges they’re solving
Our Impact
Together, we’ve made meaningful progress supporting early-stage, purpose-driven businesses and communities.
In February 2025, we commissioned an independent evaluation of the founders we supported.
It offered clear evidence of what works
100% of founders said they would recommend our support.
87.5% rated their experience as excellent.
Average score 4 out of 5 for the support they accessed.
Our community
Pollen Careers helped 80 young people, previously shut out of work, find jobs through a CV-free approach, doubling placements as their network grew from 3,000 to 5,000.
Inclusion Labs engaged over 24,000 students in shaping more inclusive schools, ensuring every young person’s voice is heard.
SeparateSpace supported 200+ people through separation by removing legal barriers and lowering costs.
SpeekHealth improved well-being for 82% of users and reduced self-harm for 77%, making mental health support truly accessible.
What we’re working on
One of our values is transparency and the report also highlighted areas for us to work on. So here’s our to do list:
✅ Expanding reach beyond London through regional events and partnerships with organisations that champion underrepresented, purpose-driven founders.
✅ Attracting and engaging more aligned investors who share our mission and value the lived experiences of the founders we support.
✅ Equipping founders early with tools, resources, and content to navigate financial planning and investment readiness—before they apply.
✅ Providing clearer insight on the likelihood of investment to help founders use their time and resources wisely.
✅ Enhancing feedback systems so founders gain useful insights on decisions and alternative funding pathways.
✅ Scaling post-investment support to help businesses grow beyond initial funding and build lasting investor–founder relationships.
✅ Staying committed to impact by backing underrepresented founders and building transparent systems to track and report social outcomes.
Why we dare
At its core, Daring Capital exists to challenge the status quo. We’re proving that social investment can be more human, inclusive, and impactful - showing what’s possible when belief, capital and community come together.
We’ve seen underrepresented founders transform ideas into businesses, turn lived experience into leadership, and build solutions for overlooked communities. But this is just the beginning.
The systems we aim to change remain unequal. Many brilliant founders still face closed doors, and many investors overlook the opportunities right in front of them. That’s why we’re here: to bridge gaps, shift narratives, and reshape who builds the future.
Social change comes from bold, intentional investment in people and ideas that can transform the world.
That’s what we’re doing,
and we’re just getting started…
